Celebrities In Ads: Part 1: Melvyn Hayes

Here's English actor Melvyn Hayes featuring in a magazine ad for Long John - "SOTCH with that ten foot feeling" - in 1968. Mr Hayes was still a few years away from the role that most people remember him for today - as "Gloria" Beaumont in the BBC sitcom It Ain't Half Hot Mum.

Abbey National aimed this ad at "hip" youngsters.

Mateus Rosé

A 1968 magazine advertisement for Mateus Rosé - fondly remembered by many of the "children of the 60s".

"It's All At The Co-op NOW!"

"It's All At Your Co-op NOW!" or "It's All At The Co-op NOW" were famous TV ad slogans and jingles of the 1960s and early 1970s.

In the hard times of the '70s, the slogan changed to the far less catchy "Your Caring Sharing Co-op".
